Choosing chassis setup gauges

Separate height from alignment

Ride height is measured from a reference surface to the chassis. Camber and toe describe wheel angle. Check which reading the gauge is designed to produce.

Measure at a repeatable point

Use the same measuring surface and the same point on the car each time. Follow the model instructions for wheel or setup fixture installation and for comparing sides.

Department questions

Is droop the same as ride height?

Droop concerns suspension travel from a reference position. Ride height concerns the chassis position at rest.

Will a touring-car station fit my buggy?

Check hub attachment and clearance against the fixture's documented platform, even at the same scale.

What makes a reading repeatable?

Use the same surface, measuring point and setup conditions when you repeat it.
