Choosing bearing and pinion service

Measure the bearing or shaft

For a stepped tool, compare the relevant step with the bearing bore and the case opening. For a pinion puller, verify jaw clearance behind the gear and the center screw's contact with the shaft.

Plan the tool path

Look for clearance beside the part and the depth available behind it. Check the actual adapter inventory when a kit lists several sizes so you can choose the right contact face.

Department questions

Which diameter matters on a stepped tool?

Compare the applicable step with the bearing bore and confirm the surrounding case gives access.

Does a pinion puller also remove wheel bearings?

It is designed to pull against a gear on a shaft. Choose a bearing tool for a bearing seat.

Can the outer case obstruct the tool?

Measure the access path and space behind the component before choosing the tool.
